The island itself is fairly contained so you'll always see a new place to find on your minimap no matter where you are, just head in it's direction and as soon as you've discovered it, aim at a different place and run over there. Don't bother looting (stealing from) the house during the quest, you'll get it all for free as your reward at the end. Not to mention I fed on about 60 creatures/people towards to werewolf perks achievement. I turned into a werewolf right away to make the running from place to place much faster, and using this method I uncovered most of the locations on the entire island (and the achievement) in about 20 minutes.

One fairly quick way to do this is once you get to Solstheim go to the first quest marker (it should be the #2 location to discover), then work your way around the map in a clockwise circle from there, moving from the outside of the map towards the inside.
